Making Space Through Letting Go

What Are You Ready to Let Go Of?

There are times when holding on feels safer than letting go.

We may hold on to old hurts, unanswered questions, expectations, guilt, relationships, or versions of ourselves that once helped us survive. Even when these things are painful, they are familiar….and let’s face it… the familiar can be difficult to release.

Letting go does not mean forgetting, minimizing what happened, or pretending something did not matter.

It does not require us to forgive before we are ready or to approve of another person’s choices.

Letting go is the gradual practice of loosening our emotional grip on what we cannot change.

Here is the thing…when we remain caught in the past, our minds and bodies can continue responding as though the experience is still happening.

We may replay conversations, imagine different outcomes, or stay tense and guarded.

Letting go helps us redirect energy away from the struggle with what has already happened and move toward the life we are living now.

This process is rarely a single decision. It may need to happen gently, repeatedly, or in layers. Some days, letting go means setting a boundary. Other days, it means allowing yourself to feel grief, ask for support, or simply choosing not to revisit the same painful thought for the rest of the day.

You do not have to force yourself to release everything at once.

Begin by noticing what feels heavy—and ask whether carrying it is still protecting you or simply exhausting you…by sticking with this process, letting go of what is no longer serving you will become easier.
